These Columbia fishing pants surpassed expectations, proving comfortable, quick-drying, and durable through various activities. This makes them an essential outdoor wardrobe choice at a fraction of the cost. The Columbia pants for men are an excellent option if you’re looking for a quick convertible option.
Helpful review:
“I ordered these men’s pants as an experiment. My mother-in-law purchased a version similar to these at LLBeans for me last year. I fell in love with those but have been looking for another since I have not been able to find them locally. I ordered these based on the (sizing) information on the site. Columbia is a good brand and I figured it was worth the risk.
What I received was so perfect for what I wanted! The performance pants are comfortable, don’t bind, (walked the dog in the rain just to test them), and quickly dry,… I am so happy with them that I am ordering additional pairs!
However, the real tests will be (1) washability (if that is a real word you get the idea) and (2) while I am camping, hiking, kayaking, etc….. regarding functionality, construction, and durability for both the material and the zippers. My fingers crossed regarding that! I hope to update this post with the results later this spring. One other thing to note: this product is also 1/3 the cost (at the time of this purchase) of the LLBean one.
UPDATE: 3/12/2017 – These have held up wonderfully for close to a year. Wash well (cold – no softener), and dry with no issues. These have held up to dogs, agility training, yard work, kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking, and life in general! I have since the time of the original post purchased three additional pairs (different colors) and have been pleased with the performance of all.” — Jeff Rock

Columbia – Terminal Tackle Pant

Highlight:
These fishing pants by Columbia outshine pricier alternatives with their superior fit and versatility, doubling as everyday casual wear. They also provide excellent comfort in hot weather—although a desire for stronger pocket stitching remains their only flaw.
Helpful review:
“These are a massive upgrade on hot weather, very light SPF pants for fishing. The older and more expensive versions of Columbia, Simms, and Patagonia pants resemble parachute pants, with about as much attention to structure and fit. Everyone looks like a nerd in those pants. These can be worn as casual everyday pants. Great fit, I wish the pockets were double-stitched, the only drawback.” — Bob Newman

Grundens Weather Watch – Fishing Pants

Highlight:
These pants have proven to be an exceptional investment, keeping me warm and dry even in challenging weather conditions. Moreover, They also offer durability and functionality at an unbeatable price.
Helpful review:
“I wanted to wait a while and see how these would hold up, and I was not disappointed! About two months into 5 days a week used in everything from mild winter drizzle to sideways torrential storm battering. and my lower half has been toasty warm and most importantly DRY. These pants aren’t insulated, so I usually have fleece pj pants or a thermal beneath and stay comfortably warm in wet 30 to 50 degrees F weather (too warm on the upper spectrum even).
I’m walking/kneeling/moving most of the workday and do a lot of pressure washing, and the pants haven’t split or frayed at this point. I’m a travel operator at a boat yard so the hi-vis wasn’t necessary but it’s been a bonus with the dark winter weather (occasionally we go out on public roadways and I’ve noticed a difference in being able to catch the attention of drivers vs my old darker gear). I have yet to put it through the wash so it’s gotten pretty caked in gravel dust/bottom paint chunks/boat yard grime but they’re still easy to spot.
The pockets are great, I keep my multitool in one hand pocket, my wallet in the other, and my iPhone in the leg pocket with various items. I don’t feel like I’m putting strain on any of the items and everything stays dry through rain/pressure washing. Plus with zippers on hand pockets means no items escaping to the ocean while working on the dock.
The only time I’ve noticed any sign of water getting through is when I sit in standing water (forklift left in the rain with a puddle in the seat, for instance) and even then it’s a vague feeling of dampness. If I just wipe whatever surface with the side of my glove to get excess water off it’s no issue. It’s worth noting I wear knee-high muck boots, so I don’t have to worry about moisture wicking up from the hem of under-layer pants.
Oh! And if it helps I’m female, 6′ and 210 lbs and the large fits comfortably, if a little loose at the waist. I just cinched up the elastic belt and wear them as high waist pants and it keeps them from sliding down my butt, which has been an issue with other men’s pants.” — Erica Wallace
